| Home | Harrells Christian Academy announced on Monday that Will Rumbold will be the school’s new Athletic Director for the 2008-2009 school year. Rumbold, a 1995 graduate of HCA, received a B.S. degree in communications from Pembroke University in 2000. Following graduation, he worked as a video photographer, reporter for Friday Night Football, and news producer for WECT News. For the last five years, Rumbold has served as a teacher, coach, public relations specialist, and Assistant Athletic Director at HCA. He began serving as interim Athletic Director after the resignation of Bob Lewis in March of this year. In addition to fulfilling his teaching, public relations, and athletic responsibilities, Rumbold volunteered to charter a successful Bible study group, Fishers of Men, for interested high school students. Rumbold is honored to be chosen for this position. “I am thankful and excited about this opportunity. This position is special to me because HCA is my alma mater. I look forward to helping all of our athletes in being competitive on the field and court,” said Rumbold. Rumbold added that he would really like to implement opportunities for spiritual growth and team motivation through athletics as well. “I am very pleased and proud to make this announcement today,” stated headmaster Ron Montgomery. “Will has done a tremendous job as interim A.D. and I am certain he will continue to be successful in this role. You won’t find anyone who loves this school more or who is as loyal and dedicated to the betterment of it. He is without a doubt the right fit for this position,” continued Montgomery. Rumbold, a resident of Wallace, NC, is married to Lindsay Wood Rumbold. They have two daughters, Isabella and Mary Willow. Rumbold will officially begin his position as HCA Athletic Director on July 1, 2008. |
