Dear Parents:
HCA and the HCA Parent’s Association are in full swing! Each month, you will get an update on what has gone on, what will be happening and ways you can contribute. We hope that these updates provide you with the feedback and information that you need! If you get this letter by email or are reading it online, anything highlighted in blue can be clicked on for further information.
What has happened:
We cleaned classrooms:
Many thanks to those parents who helped clean the lower school classrooms. This enabled the teachers to concentrate on getting ready for the children! We cleaned windows, desks and floors. We helped put up bulletin boards and organized shelves.
Teacher Lunch:
This tradional event helps kick off the school year for the teachers and staff. A big thank you to those parents who helped the hospitality committee prepare and serve lunch.
First Day of School:
All the teachers and staff received a little piece of candy and a card that thanked them for all they do at HCA. Volunteers helped in the Kindergarten classrooms taking pictures and directing the new children and their parents.
First Week of School:
Volunteers helped teachers in the Kindergarten at lunchtime. This cuts down on confusion during a hectic time of day for new students.
Sally Foster:
Our first fundraising event started on Friday, August 31st. We encourage all families to participate in the yearly event. The school makes a great profit (which goes to the general fund) while providing a great product. If you have never used Sally Foster paper you are in for a treat. Remember to utilize the Internet to cut down on the work that you have to do. The chairs of this project need some help counting orders and money when they start coming in. Volunteers are needed for Monday, September 17 th and Tuesday, September 18 th. You don’t need to stay for long and this will help out greatly. If you can help, call Cynthia Price at 289-3837 or email Kris Bryant . Thanks in advance for making this a great success.
Upcoming Events:
Grandparents Day will be October 5th. We look forward to seeing the grandparents and special people in our students’ lives. Volunteers are needed for this event. Contact Michelle Quinn .
Christmas Concert and Tree Skirt Auction will be December 16th. Because of space constraints this annual event will be held off site. (Interested in helping alleviate the space crunch? See Expanding for a Brighter Future at HCA ). Kick off for this event will start two weeks prior with the start of a silent auction on our beloved and cherished K-5 tree skirts. Volunteers are busy starting on these wonderful heirlooms. The event will start with a dessert buffet and gathering during which the silent auction will continue on the tree skirts. Information will be updated regularly so be sure to check out the Special Events Page.
Plans are being made for our annual Spring fundraising event. The auctioning of Quilts and other favorites will take place during this time. Work has started on these keepsake Quilts and volunteers are still needed to help with this event.
Things still needed:
Volunteers are still needed in the HCA library. You can contact Joy Usher.
We need some ideas on things we can do with the Middle School and Upper School students and/or parents. Suggestions, ideas etc. please contact Kris Bryant.
As always any ideas, suggestions, complaints, concerns etc. can be directed to Kris Bryant. If you signed up during orientation, we are still working getting all the names and contact information in a format that all the committees can utilize, so please don’t think that we forgot about you. The Parent Association strives to make your experience at HCA as rewarding as it is for your child. Thanks again for all that you have done, all that you are doing, and all that you will do to help HCA be the best it can be!!
