Course Description: The Journalism class is responsible for designing, writing, editing, and distributing the “Green & Gold” and the “Crusader Corner.” In addition to creating articles, taking pictures, and designing layouts, students will learn to set goals and meet deadlines. The students will also be responsible for the morning news during morning devotions.

Objectives: To learn to write articles, edit your peers’ work, meet deadlines,
interview people, and get all the facts and pictures for a great
article and speak comfortably in front of others

Materials: Red marking pen

Grading: Your grade is based on meeting your deadlines for your assigned
articles (this means the article and the pictures). Ten points will be deducted each day your assignment is not completely finished. (Completely finished includes having a picture and your article corrected from the edits.) I realize that sometimes things are “out of your control” and this will be taken into account. Also you will receive a grade for your morning news report based on being prepared, speaking clearly, etc.

Policies:

Follow all school rules including the computer use contract.

Make sure you put your name on all your work before you print it.

Make sure your work is saved in your computer folder and clearly named.

If you miss class, you are still responsible for finishing your work on time.

Expectations:

Be respectful.

Do your best.

Bring your pen to class every day.

Tests are not given, but organizational skills and writing skills are a must.
