Students will learn advanced algebraic concepts including functions, polynomials, rational expressions, systems of equations, complex numbers, and matrices. Each student will study each mathematical idea through applications and modeling in order to develop the skills necessary to successfully understand advanced algebra concepts.

 

Required Daily Materials:

  • TI-83 or TI-84 calculators with batteries
  • Assigned Glencoe Algebra II textbook
  • Paper
  • Lots of pencils
  • Notebook

 

Grading:

  • Homework-class work –will be assigned daily. Ten points will be deducted from 100 each time it is not completed. Two homework grades will be earned per six weeks. These assignments will be posted on the website daily.
  • Quizzes- are not announced. If students miss only one, they do not make it up, but do not get to drop a grade at the end of the six weeks. The minimum quiz grade will be 40.
  • Class exercises-some will be graded and count as a quiz
  • Tests- will be announced, will not be dropped, and must be taken within a week of the announced test.

 

All grades are averaged at the end of the six weeks. If all quizzes have been taken, at least one grade will be dropped. The teacher will be available on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons to help students who need help or have missed class. Students who are present for class will succeed. Students with excused absences are responsible for making up missed work with in a week. Both comprehensive Midterms and Final Exams will be given.

 

Rules:

  • Students will come to class with required materials.
  • Students will be in assigned seats with materials ready when the tardy bell rings.
  • Students will follow directions the first time they are given.
  • Students will avoid disruptive behavior.
  • Students will abide by policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook.

 

Consequences:

1 st Offense-Warning

2 nd Offense-Parental Contact and Friday School

3 rd Offense-Office Referral

 

Behaviors that prevent others from learning will not be tolerated and offenders will be sent to the office immediately.
